How it works

See how our simple 3-step process works, and find answers to common questions below.

01

Tell us about your project

It's best to get in touch before you apply to the utility company. We'll ask whether any application has already been made, then a few questions to help us understand your project and connect you with the right installation specialist.

02

We contact every specialist in your area

After asking a few simple questions, we'll share your details with every specialist in your area and ask them to quote for your project.

03

You choose the best quote

We update you as we receive quotes back from the specialists. You can choose one at any point or wait to see if any better quotes come in.

Common questions

Which utilities can you help with?

We cover all your utility connection requirements - water, sewerage, electricity, gas and fibre/telecoms. We are confident that we can find you the best deal from our installation specialists who are industry accredited (WIRS, NERS, GIRS and MURS).

What services do you offer?

Our core service is to run a competitive process to source you the best deal for the installation of your utility connections. To do this we share the utility design and cost estimate you received from your electricity (e.g. UKPN), gas (e.g. Cadent), or water (e.g. Thames Water) utility company with our panel of specialists. We can also offer additional services as required to help achieve this goal. This includes making and managing your utility applications for you, as a paid additional service.

Can you make the utility applications for us?

Yes, as long as no application has been made yet. We make and run the applications with each utility, with you as the applicant and us as your agent. We chase the utilities and resolve errors in their handling, so your programme is not held up. This is an optional additional service on top of our free core service. Introductory pricing: £500 + VAT for the first utility, £250 + VAT for each additional utility. This price covers our work only. The charges the utility companies make for applications and connections are separate, and you pay exactly what they charge, with nothing added by us. See our Terms of Service for details.

When is the right time to contact?

Ideally before you apply to the local utility company. We can help you at any stage up to the point in which you have entered into a formal agreement with the local utility company or independent provider for the installation of your connections.

What information do I need to provide?

This depends on where you are in the process. If you have already applied to the local utility company for your new connection(s), we will need the utility reference and who submitted the application (you, or a consultant or other company on your behalf). We will also need the Cost Advice and the designs produced.

We've already applied, or someone applied for us. Can you still help?

Yes. Utilities only discuss an application with the applicant on record. If you applied, you sign a letter of authority so we can act for you, and we provide the wording. If a consultant or another company applied, they need to transfer the application to you first. Otherwise you may need a new application, which means a new fee to the utility and the timescales start again.

How long does it take to get a quote?

Installation specialists usually express interest in a job within 72 hours and provide a quote within 14 days, which includes the time for clarifying any questions they may have.

Do I have to wait for all quotes to be received?

Not at all. We will communicate incoming quotes as they come in, and you can make a decision at any time.

What is the cost of your service?

Our core service is free of charge for property developers. We do not charge for our time, the quotes you receive from us are the amount you will pay. Additional services such as arranging site surveys and traffic management assessments may be subject to a fee. Our Managed Application Service, where we make and manage your utility applications for you, is charged separately. Introductory pricing: £500 + VAT for the first utility, £250 + VAT for each additional utility. This price covers our work only. The charges the utility companies make for applications and connections are separate, and you pay exactly what they charge, with nothing added by us.
